A Thought About Eternity

I was laying in bed the other night with my wife, thinking about what I would like to become when I die. I thought to myself, "I would like to live out the rest of eternity as water." And than I realized that my body is already composed mostly of water. So in a sense, I am currently what I want to be in the future. I am already water. I don't know why, exactly... but I found peace in that.

Namaste Hipster~

Thanks for the visit and the comment. I enjoy your blog and am happy to link to it if you don't mind. :)

I've thought of being water as well and I find a lot of peace in it too.

I like to end my meditations on the inter-being with the four elements:

Breathing in I am aware of air in my body. Breathing out I release the air in my body.

Breathing in I am aware of the fire/heat in my body. Breathing out I release that fire/heat in my body.

Breathing in I am aware of the Earth in my body (usually here I picture my bones or muscles). Breathing out I release to the Earth in my body.

And water follows in a similar fashion...

Thanks, James. I'll link to you as welll.

Thanks for the meditation lesson.

I, too, am a fan of Thich Nhat Hanh. I just finished an essay for my Applied Ethics class on Engaged Buddhism. It was a real joy to study Hanh's work.
